Thunderbird and Killer Whale - Model Totem Pole by First Nations artist Charles Harper, a member of the Kwakwaka'wakw Nation.

Charles is a highly accomplished artist who started his career in 1974 created many beautiful pieces over the years. One of them, a 20 ft. Totem Pole can be found in the Netherlands, proudly representing the Pacific Northwest Coast. He's also creating beautiful jewelry.

This piece is amazing. Please have a close look at the details, its meticulously hand carved in cedar. Signed underneath, polished, condition is excellent. The expression of the Thunderbird is very majestic and proud; he's sitting on top of the beautifully designed Killer Whale. The base is carved into the totem; it's not added or mounted on. Really fabulous!

Measurements: 22" x 8" x 3"

Meaning: The Thunderbird symbolizes supernatural power and is believed to be the dominating force behind all of nature’s doings. It’s a mythical creature and only the most prestigious and powerful Chiefs are allowed to have the Thunderbird as a crest especially among the Kwagiulth, Nuu-Chah-Nulth and Coast Salish people. The killer whale is a symbol for romance and harmony as Whales mate for life. The Whale is very family oriented and known to travel in large groups, never to be alone. They symbolize great luck and happiness, community and protection. They are known to always be working together, taking care of each other and to always helping and protecting each other.
