Vintage and Original Dance Rattle, Raven and the Sun, by late Kwakiulth Nation artist Lloyd Wadhams Sr.

This masterpiece is signed on the handle by the artist who paid so much attention to details, it's incredible. The cedar is stained and polished, the carving lines are VERY clean and close to perfection - I really love this piece. I have seen many rattles over the years, but this one really stands out. Signed on the handle of the base. The sound of the rattle is powerful.

Please scroll all the way down, below the images of this piece, I'm adding a video... please have a look and listen to the sound...

Measurements: 14" x 4" x 5" (Base is available on request for $50 CAD, please contact me if interested)

Meaning: Known in legends the raven is the one who released the sun, moon, and stars; discovered man in a clamshell; brought the salmon and the water; and taught man how to fish and hunt. The story of "Raven giving the Lights" is legendary. An old man lived in a house on the bank of a river with his only child - a daughter. At this time, it was pitch black everywhere and no one could see anything. So whether she was beautiful or not, there wasn't a way anyone could tell. Thus begins the tale of the Raven and the Sun. It's said that the old man kept the Sun locked in a box which was keeping another box and another, with the smallest one containing all the light in the universe.... please read the full Legend as we are providing it in our "Legends" section in the tab "about" on the top right corner.
